In "Let's Talk About Sex", Heather and John welcome Dr. Angela Fisher, PhD, a pioneering psychologist, educator, entrepreneur, and healer whose work is reshaping the mental health landscape through empowerment, innovation, and reverence for consciousness.

Heather and Dr. Angela first met onstage, finding themselves in a discussion panel together at Rockstar Blends' first-ever Cannadelic event. That first panel was titled "Sex, Cannabis and Psychedelics", and in this episode of Genx Hits Menopause, Heather and Angela go further into the multiple dimensions of the "recreational" side of sex.

They discuss why it's not just a good time, but a crucial element for our mental, emotional, and physical well-being, and then keep going into the physiological and psychological wonders of sex, especially for women.

A national leader in legal psychedelic-assisted therapy, Dr. Angela was among the first in the U.S. to offer sanctioned psilocybin and MDMA therapy through her Native American Indigenous Church Bionic Bloom. She has become a trusted authority in the field, creating safe, transformative spaces for individuals navigating trauma, life transitions, neurodivergence, and identity exploration.

Heather is also a new contributor to some of Dr. Angela's retreats—known for their powerful blend of ceremony, somatic therapy, hypnosis, and integrative care—have touched thousands of lives.

Let's Talk About Sex

Prepare for some enlightening revelations! This conversation heads straight into the significant differences in sexual experiences between men and women, and doesn't look back. Dr. Angela shares some intriguing statistics as they discuss the lack of education about sexual pleasure, female pleasure and the clitoris, in school sex-ed, medical texts and the unrealistic portrayals of sex in media and popular culture.

Dr. Angela illuminates the incredible design of the female pleasure center and its evolutionary significance, inviting us to learn more about our own bodies. The conversation ranges from the surprising understudy of the female orgasm and its potential to enhance bone density, joint health, and overall vitality to the hormonal dance of sex and the connection-building power of oxytocin, prolactin and more.

Finally, Heather and Dr. Angela invite listeners to join them in this continuing conversation person again, this time at Cannadelic Miami on May 23rd and 24th, 2025 sponsored by Dr. Angela's Bionic Bloom. She offers a preview into their planned "Tantredelic" experience, a path to meaningful, consensual connection, oxytocin activation, and trauma-informed practices.

This episode is a beginning to deeper, more open, and more honest conversations about sex, particularly for GenX women navigating menopause and their partners.

Episode Highlights

toward better sex education
"I challenge the American medical community to ask more questions. Why is that? Why is it we can go to other countries and learn about this organ that is the same tissue as a penis, whose sole purpose is to provide pleasure?" Dr. Angela
we lack overall human connection
"When connecting with oneself, whether it's sexual or not, you have the ability to increase some natural hormonal regulation so that we can build connection to self. When we extend that outward, externally, we're building connection to other humans. And I would say that in an independent society, like we have in an American society, we lack overall human connection. We lack overall a connection to selves. We lack community, and sex is one of the means to close that gap a little bit so we can actually start to connect with others, with other humans in a very meaningful way. " Dr. Angela
she is finding safety
"What happens in a biological woman when she's having sex? It depends if she's actually present - if she shows up and she can be vulnerable in the sexual space, then she is finding safety." Dr. Angela
strength and security and power
"if you find a great partner and you can find that with that partner and you are that connected, then those women are sitting in the golden seat because there is so much strength and security and power in a allowing yourself to experience this massive explosive orgasm that leaves you feeling completely vulnerable afterwards, but you're safe..." Heather
be with your higher self
"During Tantredelic, we activate oxytocin. We are trauma-informed. We discuss consent. We talk about how to sit in your body and be with your higher self. We talk about that wise, compassionate part of our souls that needs to show up for us to slow down and be present and intentional. " Dr. Angela
